Why a life straw??

I see a lot of survivalists and preppers listing the life straw in their bags or gear lists. Can I ask the community what the argument for the life straw is? I've used a Sawyer mini and regular for years as in-line filter, squeeze bag and as drip filter. is the Sawyer is also field serviceable. I understand the pore size on a Sawyer is smaller leading to somewhat slower filter rates but the trade-off is being able to filter more pathogens from your water than the life straw.
