Building a fire in a very wet forest.

I live in the Pacific Northwest, (southern British Columbia).. we've had a particularly wet autumn with heavy rain almost every single day. Just for fun, I spent a few hours in the forest today trying to find any material that I could use to build a fire. Looking for areas under fallen trees, rocks, large trees etc.. The forest is so wet that I couldn't find a single dry thing to burn, even under thick bushes and the giant trees everything was soaked with huge puddles everywhere that almost make the forest swamp-like. From what I've read in the past, you can shave off bark from a cedar tree to use for a tinder bundle, and use some pine resin to help ignite. I didn't even end up finding anything to make a tinder bundle or any resin to use. At this point I am convinced it would be very challenging to create a fire in these conditions. My question is, where are the best places in an extremely wet rain forest to find dry material to build a fire? http://ift.tt/2feCKve
