As much as I enjoy my fire steel, it seems like matches may be the most reliable way to start fires quickly if I'm ever in truly dire need. I have some stormproof matches (REI, I think), but the plastic case they came in seems a little less than trustworthy and the exposed striking surface on the side seems rather easily compromised.I've been looking up nicer match cases, and I've found three that seem to stand out: the K&M match case, and Exotac's Matchcap and Matchcap XL. It doesn't seem like the K&M's are available anymore. Any information you all can share about any of these three is appreciated; I'm hoping that whatever I get will fit into the little pouch that bolts onto my ESEE 6 sheath, but as long as it fits in my pack I'll call it good. One last thing; is it theoretically best to pack as many stormproof matches into a case as I can, or should I try to strike some balance between those, strike-anywhere matches, and extra tinder? http://ift.tt/2gj10gv
